Friday Fist Bump

Happy Friday Friends!

We made it to the end of the week. High fives all around. And a fist bump.

Yesterday when I arrived at work my stomach was NOT having my dairy binge from the night before (half a yogurt and 3/4 a cup of cottage cheese is my idea of a dairy binge). I felt bloated and I HURT. I had a case in the OR in the morning which I thought was going to go long, but it was only scheduled till 10 so I skipped breakfast (I don’t recommend by the way) to let my tummy chill some.

Well I didn’t get done with the OR until 11:30-ish and I came out with a headache and I was starving. I probably should have at least ate some almonds or something. So I ate my breakfast… then 2 and a half hours later I ate my lunch. Like I said, I don’t believe in skipping meals. I was once guilty of this in the past and hate to admit it. It causes major metabolic damage.

This was lunch. Bison steak, yummy!

As you know I’m carb cycling, but I’m also SORT OF reverse dieting. What is reverse dieting exactly? Well it’s working your body up to higher calories without weight gain. Basically repairing a demaged metabolism. The idea is to slowly increase calories a little bit every few weeks. Sounds glorious to me. Minnie loves food. Minnie loves no weight gain even more.

You know what else I love? HIGH SOCKS! It’s my new current obsession. They feel really good on my legs post leg day, and they are good for days I’m on my feet all day at work (usually every day).

Yes, those are old Juicy Couture socks from when I was about 18 and Juicy had blown up. I never even wore them, but bought everything “Juicy” at the time. I was 18…G-Mama remembers! It used to be one teeny little rack at Nordstrom and I would run right to it. Seems like yesterday, hard to believe it was 10 years ago, wow.

After an hectic afternoon, I headed to the gym. I had planned on going home to take a nap and then maybe use my apartment gym, but I got a second wind around 3:30 and decided to go 🙂

I hardly ever wear cheap workout clothes (this is a forever 21 tank). Not because I’m snobby, but because this is what happens when you do! Sweat just seeps through. The more expensive brands are expensive for a reason, higher quality with sweat protection. I hate working out and feeling soaked, ick! The brands I wear: Lululemon, Zella, Lucy, Nike, etc are better materials.

Here was my arm workout. I did 6 exercises, ALL SLOW and controlled. I really focused on the lift instead of rushing through the reps. It made a big difference and I woke up sore. On these days I always up my weight on the last set. It’s okay if you don’t get through all the reps, I sometimes cannot. It still helps build the muscle.

  • Hammer cable curls using rope, 50-60 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Tricep cable  pulldowns, 60-70 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Alternating bicep curls, 15 lb weights, 20 reps x 4 sets
  • Tricep kickbacks, 15 lb weights, 12 reps x 4 sets
  • Side bicep curls (my favorite), 15 lb weights, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Seated tricep overhead extension, 30-35 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets

Back at home Phoebe and I leaped into each others arms. We were really celebrating the fact that it was our weekend. Me and Phoebs! Yay. So we went for a little moonlight stroll outside. I thought the dog was going to lose it she was so excited.

You comin’ ma?

Today we head to G-Mama and Pop Pops. I know Phoebe missed them so much, especially Shelby. She has bugged me all morning to go, so this is where she gets her way and I say peace for the day!

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
