Nothing But a Number
Monday Monday… You probably all hate me because I’m home, I’m sorry 🙁 But you can laugh at me when I’m at work on Friday!
I hope everyone had a special Easter! We didn’t really celebrate. My sister was away, my dad worked most of the day, so it was mostly just me, G-Mama and the pups. I started my morning by giving Phoebe a new Easter toy (it was a bird, not a bunny), then had my weekend protein fluff shake. Cookies and cream 🙂
I also stepped on the scale for the first time in months. As many of you know I don’t weigh myself. The number has never done anything positive for me no matter what it is. If it’s too high, I feel bad about myself. If it’s good or lower than I expected, than I would often go too extreme with it. So I tend to stay away. The only reason I stepped on the scale was because someone had asked me on Instagram what I weigh and honestly I had no idea.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with my number. The last time I weighed in I had a lot less muscle and yesterday my number was a few pounds less than it was back then! So I got what I needed, to know my normal number, but I won’t be weighing in anymore for a while.
After that little mind game with the scale, I said “you ready” and Phoebe was ready to head out the door!
Oh I did get dressed first in another one of those Lululemon tops I love! 🙂
It was shoulder day and the gym was pretty empty for the holiday. Win for me! I started with a 1/2 mile run on the treadmill to get warmed up then went onto shoulder land
- Rear delt raises, 20 lbs each arm, 15 reps x 4 sets
- Low shoulder cable cross raise (cross arms low, pull arms up and out, elbows pointing out), 20-25 lbs each side, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Low diagonal cable raise, single arm. Grab the opposite handle, pull arm up and out, elbow pointing out, arm bent. 20-25 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets each arm
- Smith upright rows, 65 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Smith shoulder presses, 65 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Smith shoulder shrugs, 125-135 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Single arm cable lateral raise, 10-15 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets each arm
- Single arm cable front raise, 10-15 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets each arm
- Both arm lateral raises, 8 lb kettles, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Front raises using 20 lb bar, NARROW GRIP (thumbs touching- works a different part of the shoulder!), 12 reps x 4 sets
- Shoulder shrugs with 35 lb kettles, 12 reps x 4 sets
I also did a 20 minute elliptical session and wow my bum was really feeling it from the curtsy lunges the other day. Want an amazing booty? DO THOSE!
Finished up with a 10 minute stationary bike ride (I only use the high seated ones, I don’t like the ones with a back on them)
And some cage stretching. I really spent a long time on this thing because my glutes and hip flexors were so incredibly tight!
I hung out at G-Mama’s for a while with my girl (who isn’t the best behaved little one, but she can’t help it!). She whines a lot. I’m used to it, but she constantly cries and my mom realized yesterday how bad it is. She just has some attachment issues 😉
Since it was easter, I thought it was appropriate to eat eggs for my post workout fuel! I also had lots of veggies and bean dip from Trader Joes.
I also took a nap there (shocker, I know). Actually I had an awful nights sleep the night before. I let Phoebe sleep in the big bed again (my bed) and she kept pacing and jumping on my chest. By 530am I gave up and made her go in the bathroom so I could rest a few more hours. When I got up in the morning to start my coffee I actually had to wake her! She was asleep in her bed. That never happens.
After a few hours with my mama and a quick hello to dad (he had just walked in as I was getting ready to leave), Phoebe and I headed home to make dinner. I made my own fresh salsa and it was the most amazing salsa I have ever had. I am saying goodbye to store bought, because I couldn’t believe how much of a difference fresh tastes!
PLUS this salsa is cilantro free (I DESPISE CILANTRO!). Seriously, I am one of those people that have such a strong hatred for it when you ask me I go off in a rant! It tastes like soap to me.
I tested it with some sweet potato chips
Unfortunately, this is not my recipe for the day. I am saving this to use for Veria Living. Stay tuned because I will link you guys when I have it done for them!
But I used my salsa as a dressing for a great Chicken Taco Salad I made. Click the picture for the recipe!
This is what it looked like with the dressing and when I destroyed it to eat the bowl (made from an ezekiel wrap)
After dinner I continued my Friends marathon (I can’t help it, I like what I like!), did some laundry, made a grocery list (yay to Wegmans on my Monday off) and did some other things for my blog. Phoebe was hyper one second, then out like a light the next.
Later today I head back to the gym for some arms (triceps and biceps together again) and then tomorrow I head back to work for the week (boo), but it supports my online shopping habit!
Start the week off on a good note and make it a good Monday!
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

I can’t taste cilantro when it’s in the salsa, but when it isn’t there I know it’s not lol. I’m inlove with your lulumon top!!! So cute 🙂 Today is leg day for me!! Enjoy Bi’s and Tri’s!!

Haha yeah usually I still eat the salsas as long as its not overpowering. Chipotles guac is filled with cilantro and is AWFUL!!!!!
