Shame On You Starbucks

Super Saturday starts with a blog blast. I try not to be negative on my blog but this is absurd and I know I can’t be the only one shocked by this information.

Let me start at what happened.

I am in the mall, at Starbucks (not my usual store) and I ordered an iced coffee with sugar free caramel and a little bit of soy milk (like I always do on weekends). Well the girl behind the counter says to me “so do you want the regular sweetener too? Or just the sugar free caramel?”. I stood there and looked at her puzzled for a good 5-10 seconds. Then I said I’m sorry I don’t understand. Well she said “oh it’s our regular sweetener we use”. After doing some research, TURNS OUT they add this to all their iced drinks! WHAT!?Ā 

Okay Katie calm down…

Am I the only one out there who assumed when I order an iced coffee I am getting black coffee over ice!? I can assure you I am not. All iced drinks: teas, coffees, etc. get this syrup! And no friends, it’s not sugar free. 4 pumps of it (a grande drink) is 80 calories and about 20-30 grams of sugar. So I have been ordering LIQUID FREAKING CANDY!Ā Once I came down off of my rage, you better believe at home I e-mailed Starbucks. Yep, I take after my Dad (inside joke).

It would do absolutely no good to complain in person. Those people just work there, they do not have control over things. I know my e-mail to a multi-billion dollar company is going to do NADA, but it made me feel a little better that I could tell them how disappointed I was, and that my readers would be as well. I did not ask for a sugary drink Starbucks! So if you want a REAL iced coffee order it “black” or “unsweetened”.Ā 

OH and to top it off my friends knew about this! Their responses were “well I obviously thought you ordered unsweetened!”. I mean they make a good point, but I had no idea, so yeah, naturally I am upset!

Okay end of rant….

In the morning I wasn’t too hungry, I ate 2 of those small pumpkin bars, because well they were there being uneaten.

The reason I went to the mall was to hunt for boots. I didn’t come out with boots, once again! I did however get socks, and we know I am currently obsessed with high socks!

This time last year I was obsessed with colored stripes in my hair. I get on kicks.

I also returned doggy steps I bought for Phoebe about 6 months ago. Bed Bath and Beyond took them back thank goodness, and the girl told me every one returns them because dogs will not use them. I tried with Phoebe and she wouldn’t even attempt it, and when I forced her she rolled down them. Mom fail.

When I came back we went to G-Mama and Pop Pops. Earlier I was separating my dirty laundry and Phoebs loves to play in it, so I let her. When I said the magic words “you ready?” she LEAPED over the clothes into my arms. That dog loves going to her second home šŸ™‚

And I looked like a black widow in my outfit. This mirror is so inaccurate sometimes, a tad bit of a “skinny mirror”.

After catching up with G-Mama, and a much needed lunch:

I went to the gym. It was shoulder day, my favorite.

I kept getting asked by all the guys in there where I got my socks.Ā 

  • Smith shoulder presses, 65-70 lbs, 8-12 reps x 4 sets
  • Smith shoulder shrugs, 120 lbs, 8 reps x 3 sets
  • Rear delt raises, 20 lb weights, 12 reps x 4 sets
  • Rotator cuff open and close, 20 lb weights, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Car drivers, 25 lb plate, 10 reps x 3 sets
  • Upright rows, 40-50 lb bar, 8-12 reps x 4 sets
  • Front bar raises, 30 lbs, 10 reps x 3 sets
  • Clean and presses, 30-35 lb bar, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Lateral raises, 10 lb kettles, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Arm circles, 10 reps x 2 sets each direction

Cardio was 40 minutes of spin, 10 minutes of HIIT arc trainer sprints! Killed it šŸ™‚

It was time to go home and the sun was setting beautifully!

For dinner I made chicken, mushrooms, and broccoli. Low carb day strikes again.

I actually enjoy low carb day more. Never thought that would happen.

Phoebe and I also caught up on some DVRed shows, but her ears always get in the way!

Then I made this low carb masterpiece.

I call it a Chocolate Pizza Pie. Bigger than my head, and rolling in around 178 calories. If I gave you 20 guesses you wouldn’t guess what it is made out of. That’s a secret for now and a cookbook surprise for later. I get super creative when I need to šŸ™‚

Before I knew it Miss Buffay was out like a light. On days we go to my parents house she plays so hard with Shelby and doesn’t nap. Boy does she get tired!

Back day coming up for me. Might have to be a light one as my back is already hurting. Bummer.

    what!? I am shocked to read that about Starbucks iced drinks! I don’t often order iced ones but I will definitely make sure it order them unsweetened. That’s crazy!!

    Usually its unsweetened when you get it – they only put the sweetener in if you asked for it or if they asked you, and most people say “black iced coffee” anyway – trust me I used to get it every day.

    I knew they did this with tea, but had no idea they did it with coffee!! I usually just get a caffe latte, milk and coffee, now I’m wondering if that is just it :(. Next time I’ll just say “I want black coffee with just milk, only those two ingredients please!”. Omg that picture of Phoebe just made me heart melt. Way too cute :). Yay for back day!! Shoulders and back are my favorite :D. Have a good day and a good gym session šŸ™‚

    I bought those steps for my Shih Tzu and he would not use them either! haha After several months, I finally just threw them out.

    Did u not taste the coffee and realize it was Sweet? Pretty sure that sugar free chemical syrup will hurt u more than the sweetener

      Thank you for your opinion, but I just don’t want the extra calories. And not that I feel the need to explain myself, but I only put a teensy bit of the sugar free caramel
