Icy Roads With a Feel Good Burn
I’m happy to be back in the land of stair masters and healthy veggies! This morning I woke up feeling absolutely terrible. I think I had some kind of sugar hangover, plus I was stressed about Phoebe all day.
As you are reading this, my little Phoebe Buffay is having her surgeries. Yes, I’m tearing up as I’m typing this…
She’s having her hernia repaired and also getting spayed. Thank goodness they are going to supply me with plenty of meds for her. Animals feel pain, and I cannot believe they didn’t give pain medicine years ago! How cruel
Luckily, I will be able to stay home to take care of her for 1 week. Then back to work I go! I’m sure by then she will be running around, chasing Shelbs, and being her normal self.
I’m most worried about her being left in a cage the whole day. We did have a little heart to heart though. A talk woman to woman. Phoebe understands everything I tell her. I sat down, held her, and told her Mommy is doing this to help her and that I will be back in the afternoon when she is all better. It absolutely breaks my heart, but I know she’s a strong pup and I trust my vet. I’d do anything for my Phoebs!
Anyway, this morning we woke up to snow!
Things got super icy too
I really hit the gym hard today! It felt really good to sweat out all those sugary treats. I had tons of motivation and wanted to keep going. I hit the stairs for a bit and then spin class. I was expecting it to be a little more crowded, but I guess people are still away for the holidays. Or people are waiting until the new year to be good. Don’t wait! Start now and feel the burn 🙂
I didn’t do much lifting, I stuck to cardio today. I really am trying to get back to my regular lifting schedule. Thursday was my big shoulder day before I started blogging, so I really want to get back to that.
I did do a little bit of chest work. Using 15 lb dumbbells I did 3 sets of flys and chest presses on my mat
Then some pushups, planks (1 minute planks!), and more ab work
I was really excited when I figured out I can finally do this…
I want to challenge myself to see how long I can hold it. I was surprised I could hold it for quite a bit, I expected to drop right away!
At home I decided to give my slow cooker a try for an overnight oat recipe! I can tell I’m going to have a lot of fun with this thing. It’s so convenient to throw things in a pot and come back later. I decided on an apple “de-light” oatmealÂ
We finished off our night with a little play time to distract her away from no chewies or food after 7!
I plan on keeping super busy tomorrow to keep my mind off of my little girl, it’ll just drive me crazy and all I will do is stare at the clock and my phone all day. I know she’s going to do just fine though!
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
-Minnie
