Movie Buff

Hi Everyone and Happy Monday!

I hope you guys had a great weekend 🙂

I didn’t do anything too crazy, just some puppy time, meal preps, movies, and awesome workouts. I also was able to spend time with one of my favorite people in the world, G-Mama. It’s rare I get to actually sit and spend time at the house, even though Phoebe and I go there a lot. We watched ‘Gone Girl’ – no worries I won’t spoil.

If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it. It was such a good film! And anything over 98 minutes loses my interest, so you know it must’ve been good. Plus, I find Ben Affleck charming in a rugged, doofy kind of way, I’m not sure what it is?

Phoebe sat by my side the entire time. She loves snuggle time with Mommy.

No, my parents didn’t just move in, they like the ‘simplistic look’.

I also went to the movies on Sunday to see American Sniper. WOW! Two films in one weekend? It was quite disturbing, yet, captivating at the same time. Also a good movie. Definitely out of my comfort zone.

Seriously I’m not sure why I stopped watching movies. I’m a TV on DVD or Netflix girl. It’s probably because most shows are 25 or 45 minutes. Movies you have to sit through the whole thing and I’m always doing something. I also don’t like to pause or stop and come back to a movie. If I’m doing it, I’m watching it straight through.

I had heard great things about American Sniper, plus Bradley Cooper? Um, yes please. The film broke a January box office record, I think I heard something like 34 million on opening day? Geez. He also put on 40 lbs for this film!

Anyway, back to health and fitness things…

I’m a creature of habit. I also like making new recipes. And while I’ve posted a lot of different healthy recipes, I still pretty much eat the same things every day. I can’t help it. Someone asked me the other day: “Don’t you get sick of oats?”. I looked at them like they had 3 heads.  When asked what my favorite food is I say oats. This includes the cheat meal question. Oats. Okay and maybe I’d put a quest bar on top of those oats. Now we are talking!

I also eat egg whites every day. I did have a 4 day streak where I couldn’t eat them at all. Just 4 days. I’m not sure what that was, but I literally gagged on them. I think maybe it was because I was recovering from being sick and my tastebuds were a bit off.

Yesterday morning I looked at my egg whites and said ‘Okay time for a presentation change”. It does get a little depressing eating plain boiled egg whites or just scrambled egg whites. I brainstormed a bit, looked in my cabinets, and saw my little mini muffin tin. Alright muffin tin let’s get to work and let’s make this simple. And that’s what I did.

HOW CUTE ARE THESE!?

All that’s in here:

  • 4 egg whites (or 3/4 cup egg whites)
  • 3 T chopped red onion
  • 3 T chopped orange pepper
  • cooking spray

Bake on 375 for about 15 minutes or until the edges brown.

And that’s for ALL of these little muffins. I’m all about tricking the mind to thinking you are getting more bang for your buck. When you scramble egg whites it’s a little more than a handful. This is a lot of little yummy bites.

Macros for the whole batch: 85 calories, 0g fat, 6g carbs  (1 g fiber, 2g sugar), 15g protein.

Major win.

Try them out!

I’ve read the book “Gone Girl” LOVED it, cannot wait to see the movie – There are 2 other books by the same person, “Dark Places” and “Sharp Objects” both very good as well. I really want to see American Sniper…I love these types of movies, I guess growing up watching Tour of Duty and China Beach….?? Anything war’ish I like. (I joined the military…but was medically discharged – scoliosis) I have made eggs in muffin tins several times…LOVE doing this!! My kiddos like it too 🙂
