Cardio Alternatives

Happy Thursday!

Step mill taken? Treadmills packed? Ellipticals all gone?

In most parts of the US, it’s freezing, so if you want cardio I don’t blame you for not wanting to run outside.

Just because the gym is packed and the equipment you want to use is currently being occupied, doesn’t mean you can’t get a good cardiovascular workout. Sometimes I would run stairs in my building, but you might not have that luxury. So what is a fit girl to do?

Well you get creative!

If you have access to a step up or bosu ball you can do any of these exercises.


You can even do them in between your lift sets to save time if you wanted to! Here’s a quick 20-25 minutes you can do that will probably make your heart rate higher than if you were to use a machine.

  • 1 minute run in place
  • 30 seconds jump squats
  • 1 minute jump back and forth over the bosu or step up
  • 30 second around the world squats
  • 1 minute toe taps to a heel dig on the step/bosu
  • 30 second burpees
  • 30 second high knees or step up and high knee

Take a 1-2 minute break then repeat 4-5 times to get 20-25 minutes!

You’ll be sweating for sure 🙂
