If you saw my post the other day you read that I am cutting out social media for a while. It was quite odd not opening up Facebook and Instagram the following day, but I stayed anyway from it. The temptation was there to do “the scrolling”, but I know it’s the healthiest option for me right now mentally.
I didn’t give up Pinterest though! I don’t really have many images of bodies on there anyway. I use Pinterest for recipe ideas, DIY projects, makeup, hair, etc. Okay mostly it’s just a collection of things I want to eat 😀
This picture right here is my exact perfect cheat. Nowadays sugar cookies are loaded with those thick frostings, pillowy and soft. I mean I’m sure they are delicious, but NO NO NO. I like the old school basic wafer thin, but still chewy, G-Mama Christmas sugar cookie. If it doesn’t have sprinkles, well forget it! Last night my best friend Sarah and I had a discussion about my love of sprinkles. I actually call them SPRANKLES. So much so that my phone auto corrects the word sprinkles to all caps SPRANKLES. Basically SPRANKLES are a heavy hand of sprinkles. But you have to use a kind of rough voice when saying it, comes from the back of the throat 😉
On Saturday Maryland was hit with a NASTY snow storm. I went in the gym around 11, came out before 1pm and there was 2 inches on the ground and thick ice. I was all out of food so I had to go to the grocery store next door. By the time I got out, another 2 inches. It was falling fast and NOT ONE ROAD was plowed or salted.

Phoebe was at G-Mama and Pop Pops and I had to get home so she was left with them. I am never one to panic when I’m driving and I’m the first to say “oh the roads weren’t bad”, but they were the worst I’ve ever driven in. It took me almost an hour to get home and it’s a 20 minute drive. Major expressways were not cleared and windshields were freezing over. I couldn’t see a thing and frankly I panicked. I cried… yep. I’ve never been so scared driving before and when I finally made it home I was SO GRATEFUL!
Moral of the story, the food could have waited. I shouldn’t have chanced it. Next time I’m going to be more careful and not depend on the good old state of Maryland to be prepared for such an event because clearly they were not.
And I had MAJOR Phoebe withdrawals. Stuck on the couch without my girl was not fun at all. I missed her little face, especially at bed time! I know my parents take excellent care of her though. They treat her more like a baby than I do!
So what’s on the agenda for today? Well patients and gym time. I’m hitting legs today. I’ve been sticking to a pretty strict routine but last week I snuck this little guy in and my bum was SO SORE the next day. Try it out!
- Alternating step back lunges, unweighted. 16 reps total
- Alternating curtsy lunges holding 25 lb plates on each side, 12 reps total
- Low wide squats, unweighted, 12 reps total
Repeat this 3-5 times. At the last rep of the wide squats hold it down low AS LONG AS YOU CAN! I wasn’t sure this would make a difference but the next morning… yowza!
