Post Op Puppy
I am happy to say Miss Phoebe Buffay did great! I knew she would!
I dropped her off at 7:45 this morning, but first we sat in the car for a few minutes while Mommy collected herself…
I was strong when I handed her over. I was surprised she didn’t cry, just shook a little. The young girl at the desk promised they would do Phoebes surgeries first and they would call ASAP. She also told me there was no way she’d spend all day in a cage because everyone will want to hold her. That put my mind at ease!
When they took her to the back I watched through the window until I couldn’t see her anymore (Helicopter mom, I know!). She was getting lots of love and kisses from employees. Phew!
Of course I sat on the bench outside and sobbed hysterically. God help me when I have children one day…
The vet called after 1030 and said she did wonderful!!!! I was so happy. Luckily, our vet wasn’t able to palpate Phoebs hernia, which means it resolved! So only the spay was needed today. Thank goodness. They said I would be able to pick her up at 3 so in the meantime I went to the gym.
It was actually pretty crowded for the time of day I went. I guess the resolutions are slowly starting to begin. Unfortunately, could not snag a stair master, and didn’t have time to wait around or stalk one, so I hit an extra long session on the arc trainer.
I was getting super hungry after that, so only did a little bit of shoulder lifting. I focused on heavy sets today to be more effective. Plus there was no way I was going to be late to pick up my baby!
Shoulders I did do:
- upright rows using cables. 70 lbs, 12 reps x 2 sets. then 80 lbs 10 reps x 1 set, then 90 lbs 10 reps x 1 set (yes I was lifting as much as the guy next to me, and I got stares from other people!)
- Shoulder presses, single arm, using cables. 20 lbs, 15 reps x 2 sets each arm, then 25 lbs 10 reps x 1 set each arm, then 30 lbs 8 reps x 1 set each arm
- rear delt flys, 20 lbs each hand, 12 reps x 4 sets
- shoulder presses using 8 lbs weights each hand 50 reps x 1 set!
- lateral raises using 8 lb weights, 12 reps x 3 sets
- front delt raises using 8 lb weights, 12 reps x 3 sets
- Also did assisted pull ups, narrow grip and wide grip. 4 sets of 8
Finished with side bends. 30 lbs in one hand, 15 reps x 2 sets each side
Then off to get my girl!
Don’t worry babes we are going HOME!
Snuggly in her bed… holding her ducky š
I did have to pick her up at home because she woke up in a panic. I held her and she reached her little head up and gave me 2 kisses on my chin. I know it took all her strength. I felt like she was telling me she loved me and was happy to be home š
Once we were settled, I started dinner
I’m telling ya, olive oil and a little pepper goes a long way for a dish. Your body needs the healthy fats. I didn’t need a thing to dip any of this in! Delicious š
I’m also currently making a Vegetarian Curry dish using my slow cooker. I was going to post the recipe today, but it’s been such a long day and I haven’t slept, so I’ll have it up tomorrow!
We finally finished the night with food! I was so happy she took something!
I really hope Miss Buffay feels better tomorrow. She doesn’t do well with pain and I know I’m in for quite a long night…
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
-Minnie
P.S. Leg day coming your way! (If I can make it to a gym)
