Mexico- Part One
Hi Friends!
Last Monday I was up early to go to the airport for Mexico. I always take a selfie before I go because I have this weird OCD/have to do it thing before flying somewhere. I’m not afraid of flying per se, but I do get a little nervous when the plane first takes off (only the very first plane of the trip).
Big thank you to my awesome boyfriend for taking me to the airport at 5am. I was going on vacation and he was going to do fasted cardio. That’s some determination huh?
Before I knew it I was above the clouds dozing because I barely slept.
After a stop in Dallas (oh my is that airport HUGE!) and a 2 hour layover I was in Mexico! Okay, here is where I admit how scared I was. I’ve never flown internationally by myself. I certainly don’t speak Spanish other than a few words I could remember from high school. Luckily I knew Sarah’s plane was landing about 30 minutes after mine so I waited in baggage claim. Looking like a tourist of course…
After a little panic that I wasn’t in the right place, I finally saw Sarah come around the corner. I felt SO relieved and SO excited to see her again. I thought I would react differently, like “is this real life!?”, but in fact it felt like no time had passed since I last saw her in August. I guess that’s modern technology for ya. We FaceTime, text every day, and I always read her blogs and Instagrams. Sarah also made a good point saying that’s how you know a friendship is real. You pick up right where you left off. We really did! I’ve never had a friend like her and I’m so grateful for meeting her last year.
After a quick Taxi to the resort we were finally there! The views were breathtaking. Here is when I really thought “is this real life!?”.
Talk about a VIEW! This was our balcony view folks. Yeah, I couldn’t believe it either! I definitely booked the right room. A beautiful view of the pool and the beach.
It was late afternoon and we were pretty eager to hit the pool and beach!
I had to have my big hat! I felt like Rachel on Friends when they go to the beach 🙂
This was one of the other pools. We only used this one the first day because it was super loud. Plus we couldn’t get a Wifi signal and let’s face it… we both needed that 😉
After the pool we hit a late lunch where I had the best Quesadillas I’ve ever had. Plus edible dipping cups? Does Mexico know me or what?
If you think you’ve had good guacamole, but you’ve never been to Mexico, THINK AGAIN! Seriously it was buttery, creamy, avocado goodness! We ate so much guac this trip.
It was then time to check out the beach!
I sit back and look at some of these pictures and still can’t believe I was there. So beautiful and peaceful too!
We watched the sunset our first night there.
Then headed to a late dinner! We both noticed we were wearing the same shorts too.
Scallops for an appetizer!
And then a Margarita Pizza for me. Sarah told me they do not skimp on the cheese there. My kinda place! I think Sarah had salmon. She has a TRUE gluten allergy, so she’s pretty limited with carbs.
Yeah, I did eat that whole thing. No shame in my dinner game.
We were both pretty exhausted from a big day of travel so we went to bed early. The next day was our big pool/beach day!
So that was a quick look into day one. I was going to make this one or two posts, but I have so many fun pictures to share so I’m spreading it out a little more than I originally planned. Tomorrow we talk FOOD! Yeah I put it away 😉
Have a great Tuesday!
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
-Minnie
