The Start of Summer Weekends

Hi friends and Happy Monday!

I’m off today, and I know you think I’m always off, but I feel like I never am πŸ™‚

I work three 12’s which turn into 14+ hour days with the drive, and sometimes I do four shifts. If you know ANYONE who works in the medical field then you know 12 hour shifts really take a toll on your body. It’s a long day of being on your feet and “go go go”, so we all get a little annoyed when people say “oh you only work 3-4 days a week”. Major tip: never say that to us. πŸ˜‰

But I really did enjoy my weekend this time around. Tony was FINALLY off and we were able to spend some time together. A few gym sessions were included of course!

Just like old times, giving my best “pose” and trying to angle in all the right ways. I think I still have a bikini gal in me somewhere, just not as much muscle as I once had and I’m perfectly okay with it. I workout now for fun and to feel good about myself. Not for a placing, or a trophy that is holding open a door (yep, that’s exactly what one of my trophies is doing at this very moment- a darn door stopper!). And in fact, I found the “gladiator sword” thrown in our downstairs closet where I keep the wrapping paper. Seriously, why am I keeping that sword? How would I even give it away? It is a weapon!

–Fun fact: I just googled “what to do with bodybuilding sword” and all that came up? Β Forums where people talked about how badly they want to win one. You can have mine!

Anyway, on Saturday night Tony and I headed to dinner with friends and then to a fun outdoor bar for music. A really awesome country cover band was playing and the weather was perfect!

This is where we went, the Crazy Tuna. It’s right on the water and so fun on summer nights.

We both talked about how one of these days we are actually going to drink and have a good time like 99% of people do there, but we just aren’t drinkers. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I like to save my calories for food!

Like this amazing seafood pizza I got earlier that night. It had perfectly cooked shrimp, crab meat, tomato sauce, cheese, spinach and plenty of old bay! I love Maryland πŸ™‚

On Sunday we went to my parents house for Father’s Day! I know everyone talks about how great their Dad is, but I am seriously one of the luckiest women in the world to have such an amazing Dad. My Dad is the kind of guy who would drop everything to come to my rescue, big or small. The person who coined my nickname “Minnie”, made me the dog lover that I am, and who taught me the definition of hard work. Of course I’m excited for my wedding day because I get to marry the man I love, but I’m really looking forward to that special time with my Dad where he gives me away and we get to do our Father/Daughter dance. I love you Dad πŸ™‚

We took both dogs over to their house and when that happens it turns into a huge doggy day camp. Hazel goes crazy for the first 20-25 minutes we are there, Shelby wants no part of it, Penny shakes in the corner, and Phoebe ignores Hazel as usual. But then things calm down and Hazel and Penny actually play together! Little timid Penny gets right in there.

The girls even went for a walk in the neighborhood. It was Hazels first walk since her surgery, so she was super happy to get out.

G-Mama even made lots of yummy food which included these French fries.

Seriously, they are my favorite from my childhood/teen years. Probably the reason I was a little thicker… πŸ˜‰ But so good and worth it!

I hope you have a great start to the week. I’m off to do some errands before the rain hits here! We had a nice long stretch of no rain and here it comes again πŸ™

XOXO,

Katie
