Back to Basics

Well HELLO there! Welcome to Thursday šŸ™‚

Every Thursday I always say to one of my other surgery PA’s Happy Thursday! (We work Monday through Thursday). I always have a big smile on my face. It’s one of those, just make it through these 10 hours then you have 3 days to do whatever your little heart desires. It’s always the same things: blog, cook, parents house, gym, etc. I like my routine though.

Work was pretty easy breezy. Nothing major and I really enjoyed it that way. Hoping for another one like that today, but ya know I probably jinxed the heck out of myself by saying that.

I switched up my Ezekiel bread yesterday and added some Laughing Cow spreadable cheese to it, strawberry flavor! Yum šŸ™‚

I love these little cheeses, so convenient!

Later when it was time to leave I FINALLY headed back to the gym. My motivation was at an all time low and I really had to force myself in the gym. Too darn tired lately, but also felt too darn guilty for not keeping myself in beast mode.

The gym was SUPER crowded, and I wasn’t a happy camper. I planned on quads and calves, but every time I turned around to use the machine I wanted, it was taken. I certainly am not going to wait around for some guy to finish while he talks to his “bro”, so I make my own rules and exercises. I had to go back to basics a bit!

  • Squats with 40 lb bar, 15 reps x 3 sets
  • Alternating curtsy lunges, 20 reps x 3 sets
  • Calf raises on smith machine, 185 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
  • Squats on smith machine, 135 lbs, 8 reps x 4 sets (a little heavier than normal for me)
  • Plie squats holding 20 lb kettles, 10 reps x 3 sets
  • Knee raises with 5 lb kettle looped on foot, 12 reps x 2 sets each leg (burns quad-go slow)
  • Straight leg raises with 5 lb kettle looped on foot, 10 reps x 2 sets each leg (again burns the quad!)

I also did 20 minutes on the elliptical (10 minutes forward motion, 10 minutes backwards), and finished with 10 minutes on the step mill (stair master). Since I didn’t get in all the leg exercises I wanted, I squatted a little while doing the step mill to burn my quads further. I also climbed on my tippy toes to burn those calves! Little tricks šŸ˜‰

time to go! Keys in hand

At home I gave Miss Buffay lots of love and kisses and had a big slice of watermelon. This is a great way to rehydrate in the summer after a gym session!

I also spent some time laughing at my texts from my mom while waiting on my spaghetti squash to cook.

Isn’t my mom the cutest? I still love me some Full House.

Here was dinner!

spaghetti dinner

Spaghetti squash, lean ground turkey, marinara sauce, and a teeny bit of parmigiano reggiano.

Phoebe and I spent the remainder of our night watching big brother, blogging, and throwing around a new toy I gave her (I keep stuff hidden in drawers and when she needs some extra attention I will bring one out).

Oh and some good news, my new design is almost ready. I anticipate maybe sometime next week. I can’t wait to show you guys šŸ™‚

I really am looking forward to my next three days off. Sleep is priority number one, along with some long gym sessions to rid some of my stress. I also want to try some new workouts since I had so much fun at FitBloggin’ trying new things. Any suggestions!?

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

-Minnie

Hellooo, I don’t like it either when the gym is too busy, it forces you to change your workout. Your leg workout looks great thought. I’m looking forward to seeing your new blog design! All the best Tam x

Hope today is just like yesterday!!! Hey for not having your regular equipment to workout on, it still looks like you got a pretty good workout in! Mmmm I’ve been craving spaghetti squash lately, will defiantly be making it in a couple weeks šŸ™‚ Watermelon is defiantly my favorite way to rehydrate after my runs, so refreshing, and I love that there isn’t much to any sugar in it. Can’t wait for the new design šŸ˜€
