Cake Shake
This is my go to protein drink, either in the morning, before I hit the gym, or an after gym pick-me-up
Why is it a cake shake you say?
Well, it tastes like cake batter! And I don’t think there’s anything better than that…
For this you will need:
– 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
– 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder (scoops come with the powder)
– 1 teaspoon of yellow cake mix (I used Betty Crocker)
– 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 1/2 teaspoon Splenda brown sugar (find me in the baking aisle!)
I don’t recommend substituting any of these ingredients.. unless of course you want to use real brown sugar, that’s fine. The almond milk really adds to the cake batter flavor, as does the cake mix and brown sugar.
ALSO, and this is SUPER important! You must follow these easy instructions exactly. If you add everything at once your protein shake with get clumpy and the powder won’t mix. You will have a big glob at the bottom of your cup. Plus, the vanilla mixes with the powder and won’t mix in the milk. YUCK!
So….
Start with 1 cup of the almond milk (put it in a container you can cover and shake up, I used my “bobble” but any sippy cup or water bottle will do)
Add 1 scoop of the vanilla powder
Now you shake that baby up
Then add 1 teaspoon of yellow cake mix. I keep my cake mix in tupperware, but you can use any kitchen storage container.
Mix it up again until dissolved!
Then add 1/2 tsp of vanilla, SHAKE again
Final step is 1/2 tsp of Splenda Brown Sugar
This really gives it that yummy, cookie/cake/ fresh out of the oven taste to your protein shake! SHAKE it for the final time
Now all that’s left to do is DRINK and enjoy 🙂
Happy eating… or sipping?
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
