Double or Nothing

Good Morning and Happy Friday.

Today’s blog is going to be lacking a little bit. I felt like I put a lot into yesterday’s and frankly nothing will top my excitement over Lucy, my Vitamix. I’ve already used her about 4-6 times and I’ve barely had her 24 hours.

Work was a busy day for me. I spent my morning getting some floor work done, and from 11:30 to 5pm I was in the OR. I had a good time. I did a bunch of little cases with one of the plastic surgeons. I actually like these cases better than the huge ones because you actually get to talk to the patients and put their mind at ease. I wish every work day was like yesterday, time would fly!

Because I was in the OR all day, I couldn’t do my 6 small meals, so I bulked up breakfast and lunch. I had a greek yogurt with pomegranate powder and this trail mix bar that was SUPER dense. It was a higher calorie one, coming in at 230, so I saved this one for an OR day.

I didn’t take pics of lunch because I was in a rush, but it consisted of chicken breast (double serving), and some broccoli and asparagus. I pretty much picked around the veggies, wasn’t feeling them because I had some bloat issues and didn’t want to make it worse.

By the time I hit my last case Β around 4pm, I had to run to my locker and pound some freeze dried strawberries. My stomach was growling, so I needed something for the last hour. It definitely helps to keep those emergency snacks when needed πŸ™‚

I left a little after 5pm and headed straight home. I had fresh eggs with me, so I couldn’t let them sit in the car while at the gym. One of the ortho PA’s at my work raises his own chickens with his wife and he sells the eggs to all the PA’s. There is actually a waiting list for them. They are organic free range and he only charges $2 a dozen! What a steal! These eggs can be up to 5-6 bucks a carton at the store. I also hear they are the best eggs you will ever taste. I can’t wait to try them later today πŸ™‚


When I came home the plan was to have a fluff, chill out a bit, then maybe workout for a little bit. Well I did the first two things. I just couldn’t bring myself to do anything else.

I was not very careful with calories yesterday either. I didn’t have a huge cheat meal, but I wasn’t exactly shy on portions. I had a huge chicken breast and some smoked onions, then 2 bananas, and I picked. I wanted a scoop of peanut butter, so I had a big heaping spoonful of it. Then I wanted my chocolate almond butter, so I had another big spoonful. I also had another trail mix bar. Then I made salsa… sometimes you just want to eat!

I felt a little guilty for not working out, but my body felt worn out. I was on my feet all day and just needed to plop down at home.

So today is my day off and I’m making it a double to make up for yesterday! Double or nothing and I’m choosing the double! You guys might call it a 2-a-day, but I might just double up my session instead of breaking it into 2 separate times. I’m not very good about morning workouts, I’d rather just extend my time at the gym and do it all in one shot.

    Nothing wrong with a day off, sometimes you body needs to refuell πŸ™‚ I am always way hungrier on my days off, I have to restrain myself from eating the kitchen lol. I personally like double my days, although I only do it on fridays. Hope you enjoy it πŸ™‚

      I am the same way! I am much more hungry when I don’t workout. I hate it!

    your body knows when it need rest…not a thing wrong with that. I double up on days…I call them supersets – I do 2 body parts in one workout…same reps/sets as usual…just doubled. πŸ™‚

      I thought about doing chest today along with shoulders because of you! But then I just stuck with shoulders

    I found your blog looking for healthy chicken strip recipes , but saw you have so many other good ones too! I’m 28 and just had baby number two 8 weeks ago and your blog has jumped started my journey to get back to my old self ( 40lbs lighter :/) I live in bc and am in healthcare like yourself, I bought a vitamix 2 months ago and it’s pretty much the best thing ever. People think I’m crazy for spending that on a blender but really it’s an investment for your health and how can you afford not too. I mostly drink green smoothies everyday , looking forward to more recipes! Thanks for sharing! – Brittany

      Hi Brittany! Welcome πŸ™‚ I love your story. I don’t have children of my own, but I reach a lot of moms trying to lose the baby weight. Lifting heavy will help you do it! And good for you on the green smoothies. I’ve tried several times and they just aren’t my thing. But yes the vitamix has already changed my life!
