For Change Make Change
Happy Friday! TGIF! Can I get a thank goodness?
It’s no surprise Friday is my favorite day of the week. I’m off work and by far my favorite part of the day is sitting down at the computer in the morning with my coffee and getting caught up on things while music plays and Phoebe is at my feet chewing on a bone. You can picture it right?
My goal lately has been to grow. Arms, booty, shrink my waist. Well that’s hard to do: shrink and grow at the same time. Waist has grown as well 🙁
For 15 weeks or so I was doing my workouts, and while they varied, reps were always 10-12 for 3-4 sets. I’ve been doing this for so long that I think my body is saying “hey can we try something different?”. So for change to happen you have to make change!
So I did.
For my glute workout on Wednesday evening I decided to do 5 sets of 15 and LESS exercises. I often will do a whole bunch of different exercises to target all areas of that muscle group, but spend less time on each one. This time I did longer sessions focusing on just a few exercises. It really burned! For instance:
- Cable donkey kicks- 40-50 lbs each leg, 15 reps, 5 sets each leg. That means I did 150! Wow!
- Cable side kick/hip abduction, 30-40lbs, 15 reps, 5 sets each leg.
- Plie squats with 50 lb bar, 15 reps x 5 sets
- Alternating reverse lunges, 20 reps x 5 sets
- Glute Bridges, 15 reps x 5 sets
I’m sure my fellow gym rats just loved me taking up all that time on the cables with those kicks! I was probably there a good 20-25 minutes straight.
And the next day? Well I continued 15 reps of 5 with some back work:
- Standing lat pull downs
- Dead lifts
- T bar rows
- Seated rows
Since it was Thursday night I first PLOPPED myself down on the couch. No rushing around to get things ready for the morning. Oh how lovely that is! I don’t know about you guys, but when I’m on the couch I need a snack! My lovely friends over at PopSugar and Nature Box sent me these goodies!
Each pack was a winner. I’ve actually had the lemon pistachios in my cubby at work for a pick me up. Sweet and salty is a great combination 🙂 And if anyone out there has tried the Sante Fe Corn Stix let me know how they are! They look like cheese curls! 🙂
If you want these snacks, for a limited time the POPSUGAR Must Have Snacks by NatureBox will be 50% off! Normally $19.95, so 5 delicious snacks for under 10 bucks? Click here!
POPSUGAR and NatureBox provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR MustHave Snacks by NatureBox box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own, and POPSUGAR and NatureBox did not tell me what to say or how to say it.
My night ended with making some almond butter. This time chocolate, and it’s WAY better than my first go around with chocolate a few months back. I strive for perfection 😉
Today I hit legs again, but will be doing more free weight things. I call them Free Weight Fridays. Sundays are heavy leg days.
Have a great Friday! We made it.
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
so true. you can’t expect change without being flexible enough to change this up. i have tried a couple of naturebox snacks -a lady at work has hers shipped directly to the office so that she can share with everyone- and have yet to find one that wasn’t tasty.
Changing things up definitely challenges your body more, I had a week off from going to the gym so had to rely on plyometrics and bodyweight exercises, its amazing what a good workout you can get of of just doing basic stuff! Your workout looks a good one. Is more sets a good idea for muscle building? and yumm that almond butter looks good!!! have great day xx
