Four Days of Fun
Fun Fun Fun. That is what I will be having in about 12 hours or so (well if you are reading this at 5am!). I have 10 plus hours of work to get through, then I have 4 glorious days off thanks to the holiday.
I move in ONE WEEK and oh my gosh I haven’t packed a thing. A month ago I said I was going to start and well…. here I sit, with the boxes staring at me as I type this. I’ve been so busy though and my mind has been all over the place.
Yesterday was a pretty busy day for me. I started my morning as usual and then had breakfast (the same as the day before- oatmeal, banana, and almonds). Then I headed to the OR for a few cases. I was supposed to be out by 11:45 and I wasn’t done until after 2pm. Yikes. By then I was like a wild animal on the hunt for food. I had my quinoa blend, shrimp and mixed veggies that I had prepped on Sunday night.
After inhaling this, then doing an admission and some other work, I hunted down my team only to stop in the stair well because I had extreme chest pain. I literally sat on the steps
I was okay, I knew it was heartburn but it was EXTREME. I get it really bad when I skip meals and since I had to wait so long to eat it must have hit me full force after I ate so fast. Plus pouring a bottle of hot sauce/cholulu on your veggies doesn’t exactly help. Whoops!
After 430 I changed and forced myself to workout. Like I said these next few days I am taking it easy because my competition prep is going to take all my effort!
At the gym I did 30 minutes on the incline elliptical then did a small chest routine. The first two I did lying down on a bench.
- Chest Presses, 40 lb bar, 12 reps, then 5 reps SLOW, then 10 pulses at the bottom x 3 sets (wow this burns)
- Chest fly’s, 15 lb weights, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Around the worlds, 8 lb kettles, 8 reps x 3 sets
- Standing chest open and close (wide fly’s, almost straight arms), 8 lb kettles, 10 reps x 4 sets
- TRX pushups, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Planks on palms, 30 seconds x 2 sets, then one set of obliques each side on palm with one foot in the air
As you can see, a quick routine!
I love this tank I have on too! It really shows off my back, which I think looks great lately š
When I came home I scrounged up more food, had a fluff and got to work filling out more details of my life to my new coach! I am really excited to work with him. I think the attention to detail is amazing. Even though it has taken me a long time to answer all his questions, that is what I need in a coach. Someone who is going to look at my life and see where I need help and how to make this work with my crazy work schedule.
These past two days I have been so extremely excited about this. Both days I have gotten out of bed and it’s the first thing on my mind and I start smiling. If I can wake up at 4:30 am with a smile on my face I know I’ve made the right decision. Even if I do not stand a chance against other competitors (some people do this full time and are pros), I’ll know I did it to the best of my ability and that it made me happy!
Today is going to be a busy day for me. I’m in the OR again all day until 3pm. This time I am eating a big breakfast so I do not come out with a pounding headache and attack my lunchbox as if I haven’t had food in weeks.
Prep is so close! Cheat meal tomorrow š

would you share with us your new eating plan?
Katie
Here’s the thing and I will post more about it on my blog. This is a service I am paying for, so unfortunately I won’t be able to share. Plus this diet is catered TO ME and my busy lifestyle. So what works for me will not work for everyone else! But I can share the general idea.
