I’m Not SuperWoman

Hi.

One of my favorite shirts is my Wonder Woman shirt. While I still like to call myself that, I do have to say I am NOT Super Woman.

I’m the type of person who wants to do it all. I have to be doing about 5 things at once or else I feel lost in the world or that I’m not working towards a goal.

Even superheroes have moments of weakness. I’m not a super hero, I’m an every day woman, and I am woman enough to admit I can take on too much.

Work has been VERY hard on me lately. It’s been a stressful few months and I would leave and take my aggression out in the gym. These past few weeks it’s been even harder knowing my workouts have changed. I’m past the point where I can lift heavy for an hour or so and skip my cardio. I need to be in there 2 hours plus daily. I leave with heavy legs, tired eyes, and a frown because I’m racing the clock for my next show, whilst falling behind on my blog.

So yesterday at work I was extremely overwhelmed. I took 5 minutes in the locker room and just sat. A “TIME OUT” so to speak. I thought “okay what is my priority here”. Obviously I have to be at work to make a living/pay off my loans. I love to blog, but I can space it accordingly, but is it worth it to workout so long after such hard days? 5 weeks away from a competition… beating my body into the ground and my mind spiraling into a bad state?

Something had to change.

I’m not a quitter… not throwing in the towel. Taking a short detour. So after a little research I found there are 3 more possibilities for me to continue my bikini journey this season and not be as rushed. All are farther than my original competition (both distance and weeks), but worth it for sanity and time.

I immediately felt a huge relief when I made the decision. Time was on my side again and I wondered why I didn’t consider this before. You guys know I’m a perfectionist. I need to look the best I can up there, knowing I gave it my all before my heel hits the stage. While I can definitely say I’m giving it my all RIGHT NOW, I need to slow down a bit, but still stay on prep mode. Weekend workouts will not change, but during the week being able to spend a little less time in the gym will be better for me.

If you’re crying in the car after a gym session because you are so exhausted, then somethings wrong.

Usually most of the time it’s a mixture of exhaustion and a need to eat again.

I fixed it though, and I’m ready to keep going!

With this blog I just wanted to point out that there is not a time limit to your goals. Things happen, life gets in the way, but you will always find a solution. What’s the saying? “When you make plans God laughs?”.

So this Wonder Woman is going to keep on doing her thing, she just time warped a bit 😉

Have a great Friday! I’ll try to be back on a rare Saturday post since I skipped these past two days.

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

I am so proud of you for changing your dates for the competition, I know it must have been tough to do but you will feel stronger than ever in the end. Keep positive, you more than anyone know what your body is capable of and when you start to feel exhausted, it’s a sign something isn’t right. Two hours plus every day isn’t healthy for your body and you don’t want to end up in a worse state both physically and mentally. Take some time to your self, try and relax… All the best tam

I’m so happy you found something that works for you!! You have a crazy work schedule to begin with, why make things more stressful on your body. And what’s the point in doing something quicker when it is going to just put more stress on your body. Stress can do a lot of damage. I’m just so happy you made things work for you and your schedule, it’s always good to put yourself first 🙂
