Mother Nature’s Cruel Joke

Oh let’s have a look see outside my window shall we?

Oh another ice storm/wintry mix. You can’t see it, but it’s currently coming down pretty heavy and the winds look rough.

Yep, that’s how I feel about that.

These next two days will be a catch up day on LIFE. Seriously folks, it’s gotten out of control. Have you ever had SO MUCH to get done that you finally throw your hands up in the air and say “I’ll deal with it later”? Yeah, well that’s been me, and I haven’t dealt with it later and now I have a monstrosity of a pile in front of me and panic to get it all done. This comes in the name of laundry.

Step at a time right?

Right…

It’ll be fine…

All I can do at this point!

And drink some coffee 😉

K squared coffee

And snuggle Phoebe in between!

Moving on from my sad little life…. This is going to be the first day I will not make it to my gym. Oh the horror! I have SO much on my mind lately. The roads are absolutely horrible with ice, and I’d rather not take a chance with my lack of focus right now. Something is telling me DO NOT DRIVE. Most of the time I will drive through a foot of snow to get there, but I’m all about intuitions and “funny feelings”.

So what’s a fit girl to do? Well I’m more fortunate that I have an apartment gym and live in a building with 15 stories (hello steps), but there are plenty of things to do inside if you’re stuck like I am!

Pushup challenge with jumping rope

  • 12 pushups
  • 30 seconds jumping rope

Repeat 5 times without breaks!

You don’t even need a jump rope for this one. Just do the jumping motion. You can also switch up the push up with TRICEP DIPS on a chair or your couch.

Burpee challenge with pile squats

  • 10 burpees
  • 15 plie squats (get low)

Repeat 5 times without breaks!

Plank challenge with low back extensions

  • 1 minute plank hold
  • Low back extensions lying on the floor or a mat(abs down), lift shoulders off the mat and back down for 15

Repeat 5 times without breaks!

So some easy quick things to do at home! I hate the phrase “NO EXCUSES”, I really do…. so I’m not going to say it. However, there’s always an opportunity for short workouts when you are limited!

Have a great day.

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

-Minnie

Would love to read a blog entry on your new job/the logistics and challenges of switching specialties as a PA! The freedom to switch specialties is often touted as a major benefit of the profession, but so little information is out there about how difficult (or easy) it actually is. I’d love to hear your take on this matter!

Agreed with above! Would be very interested in reading that. Also, if your looking for something to write about would love to hear more about your time in PA school. But love all your posts!

Hang in there! I may not know you personally, but have been following your blog long enough to know that you are one tough cookie. Letting everything build up into one massive mountain is never a fun feeling when you finally have to start dealing with it . . . BUT . . . Just think of how accomplished you will feel once you wrangle it all! 🙂

I really like that indoor workout! I am currently doing the 100 Pushups challenge and a stairs challenge at work (with a few coworkers), in addition to my normal gym routine, to help train for Spartan in April. Your routine above would take my “work workout” to the next level . . . Hmmm . . . I’ll have to sweet talk my team into adopting it. 😉

Thanks for the home workout ideas. Love, love, love your blog. Thank you a million times over.

I agree with Ali! I’d love to hear more about your PA life a little bit and how you plan ahead to balance your work/workout life. I’d love to hear about how your transition to your new job is going!
