My Funny Pup
Well it’s Wednesday. This means three things for me. Number 1, I made it two days through my work week. Number 2, I have two days left. Number 3 my surgical team is not on call, but still anything could happen and we could get super busy anyway.
My work day pretty much consisted of me locking myself in a quiet room and catching up on dictations for patients I discharged from the hospital. It’s not difficult work, just takes a while to go through their hospital stay. Still not finished, but got a big chunk out of the way 🙂
My lunch was a repeat of the same thing from the day before, plus some asparagus. I also had a small plum and apple. Yum
I recently bought a food scale at Target, and I never really realized how much I was eating (not in a bad way). Does it change my portions? Well sort of. The above chicken breast was only 5.8 ounces! I thought for sure that was a double portion-er (okay yes, I said portion-er). I anticipated over 8 ounces, but I was wrong, huh! It’s good to know now how much I am eating so I get the nutrition I anticipate.
By the end of the day I was feeling incredibly tired. I mean the kind of tired where you think something is wrong. Then I started feeling a little nauseated. In the morning I had my two cups of coffee and could not keep my eyes open again. I don’t know what’s going on. Am I just not getting adequate sleep? Am I getting sick? Not sure. I do know if it continues I am going to have to go to the docs to make sure no funny business is going on. I know I workout hard, but the tiredness is on another level.
I’ve been considering trying 100% clean eating again for a week. The first time I did it my energy level improved quite a bit. I will not do an insane straight 30 days where I blow up like a bloated balloon. Just a week trial again to see if my body responds. Can’t hurt?
Even though I was tired, I forced myself to go to the gym. I thought that might help! It was back day after all.
Here was my back routine:
- Bent over rear delt fly’s, 20 lb weights, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Side bends, 25 lb kettle, 15 reps x 2 sets each side
- Bent over narrow dumbbell row, 20 lbs each hand, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Torso twists, 25 lb kettle, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Wide grip rows, 60 lb bar, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Lat assisted pull ups, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Pushups on toes with one leg lifted, 10 reps x 2 sets
- Stiff leg Dead lifts, 135 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Regular dead lifts, 95 lbs, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Plie squats, 15 reps x 4 sets
- Low back mini pulses with 35 lb kettle (bend over like a dead lift, little pulses up holding weight between legs) 10 reps x 4 sets
- I alternate the low back pulses with kettle bell swings, 35 lbs, 15 reps x 4 sets
- Deep squats, 10 reps x 3 sets
- Lat pulldown behind neck using a 30 lb bar, standing (I like this better than the cable machine! It’s more of a challenge). 10 reps x 4 sets
I also did 20 minutes on the arc trainer. Nice and easy, nothing crazy. I was out of the gym in an hour. I was glad I went. I needed that hour!
I stink at taking pictures of my back! I tried the wide shots in my bathroom but kept getting the ceiling over and over and the top of my head! So I quit and did one of these.
And then the classic bicep shot
I was CRAVING a protein fluff shake, but didn’t have any bananas frozen to use. I did have mixed frozen berries however. It must be the food processor that makes it whip so well because it still worked. It wasn’t as “fluffy” without the banana, but still good! This was just the frozen berries, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and vanilla protein powder.
For dinner I had chicken breasts (I’m on a chicken kick), sweet potato wedges, and veggies along with my shake. After dinner I took out some laundry, sat down at my computer to check e-mails, and heard whimpering.. Hmmmm…
You don’t understand, Phoebe has NEVER made it up on the furniture before. I literally did a double take then laughed hysterically, then jumped for my phone to take a pic. And of course, like the laundry basket, she panicked and couldn’t jump down. I would have LOVED to see her get on the couch, but I missed it. I couldn’t believe she made it!
I realize I am very obsessed with my dog. It doesn’t help that she is one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. I really got lucky! But when you are a single gal and live alone, a pup really makes a difference in your life. I treat her as if she was my baby, and I like it that way. Phoebe and I are a package deal. So one day when I do settle down, if he doesn’t like Phoebs, he better keep walkin’! 😉
I really am hoping to get back to recipes soon. I know I have only had a few lately, but with being so tired all the time, and trying to keep up with other projects, I have been a little overwhelmed! Good stuff coming soon because I have so many new ideas I want to share.
I end today’s blog as a PROUD Aunt! My 6 year old niece Bella is in Kindergarten and reads on a 3rd grade level! What a smarty pants! She must take after her Aunt KK. I always loved school! No really I cannot take the credit for this. My sister Casey has worked extremely hard with Bella because she saw early on how smart she was. She didn’t wait for school for Bella to learn, she did it at home on her own and now look what happened! Reading like a 9 year old. Go Bella!
Have a great day! Chest day later 🙂 Get ready to bench press!
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
