No Boys Allowed

I woke up this morning to the sound of a little dog crying. Don’t worry Phoebe is fine! This is how she wakes me up EVERY morning. She panics after not seeing my face for a while (major attachment issues huh?). I try to do what mom’s do with babies and let her “cry it out”. It never works. So I stumbled out of bed, into my bathroom where I keep her, and saw her little face jumping at the gate so happy to see Mommy

I missed you Mommy!

I usually pour my coffee ASAP and sit down at the computer after giving Phoebe food, but after receiving my package of PB2 in the mail yesterday, I simply could not wait. I had to dig in.

Yum PB2 (sans makeup)… see I look like a normal person in the mornings. Hair every which way and all šŸ˜‰

Later we went to G-Mama’s and my sister Casey showed up! It was so nice for “mama’s girls” to be together again sitting down and just talking, no boys allowed! G-Mama, Casey and I would always have “girls day” growing up where we would go to the mall, have lunch, or go to a movie and spend the day together. It’s rare that the 3 of us get to do this anymore because we are busy with other things. But no matter how old we get, it’s always nice to go back to our Mom šŸ™‚

Anyway,

I hope I don’t disappoint too much today because I do not have a recipe. I am so tired from leg day (we are getting to this) and I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house. I promise to make tomorrow a good one!

Let’s get to the gym stuff!Ā 

I started with Mr. Stairmaster for the pre-burn. I will be happy to say I did not face plant today! Woo hoo! Progress right? I really worked up a sweat on this thing today and did lots of different steps (wide, narrow, side, wide to narrow)

Onto legs we go. I played with this baby today. I always feel bad for this machine. It’s in the corner and no one ever uses it. In reality, it’s one of the best machines around and you can do so much with it!

This machine says for hamstrings, but it works so much! Slip your foot in that loop and work those legs!

I started with straight leg extensions. Put your feet through the loops like me

You can but both feet in the loops so alternating is easier between sets

Now extend that looped foot straight back. 15 reps x 2 sets each leg. I did 17.5lbs

Onto hamstring hip extensions. Basically you are going to do the same movement but bend your knee and kick your foot back like a donkey! You need to use the extra loop for the bottom of your foot (see pic). 15 reps x 2 sets each leg. 15lbs and increased to 17.5lbs

I finally worked the inner and outer thighs. You are going to step off the platform and loop one foot

  • For inner thighs cross the looped foot in front of your standing foot. 10lbs (this one is hard, decrease your weight). 15 reps x 2 sets each leg
  • For outer thighs open and close the leg ( leg goes lateral, away from your body and back in). 17.5lbs. 15 reps x 2 sets each leg

Phew! Legs are burning. I did 20 minutes of arc trainer before moving on…

I grabbed the bosu again today. I have an obsession with this thing don’t I?

Squats! Here’s a pic for you šŸ™‚

I don’t have the kettlebells in my hands for this one because I don’t have three hands!

As you can see the kettle bells are on the ground. I’m balancing on the platform here to work my core and legs at the same time! 15 reps x 4 sets holding 10 lb kettle bells.

I then dropped my kettle bells and did plie squats on the Bosu (toes pointing to the sides). 20 reps x 2 sets. Hold at the end of each set and pulse for 10

Then I did squats focusing on one leg on the Bosu. Bear all your weight on one leg and just use your other leg for balance. 12 reps x 1 set each leg

I finished with some lunges on the Bosu. Lunges really bother my bad knee so I stay away from lots of these guys. I used the black platform to balance my front leg and did a set, then flipped it over and did a set on the squishy dome. 12 reps x 2 sets each leg.

Oh and don’t forget your calf muscles!

It’s like driving a car!

Using this calf press machine, 15 reps x 4 sets at 160lbs

You will be sore tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow is the worst! That’s why 2 days after leg day is my recovery day. I did my legs on Thursday evening, which means I get Saturday off! Yippeeeeeee

When I came home Phoebe was hungry so she decided I was her snack!
