Saturday Seminar

Hi everyone!

Did you have a good weekend? We did!

Saturday Tony and I went to a local bodybuilding seminar to hear from a few legendary IFBB pros. There was a pretty nice turnout and a lot of muscle love in one place.

Even though the emphasis was bodybuilding, I took a lot away on a personal and business level for my blog.

Here we have Shawn Ray, Kevin Levrone, and Fred “biggie” Smalls. They talked about how when you are in prep mode it becomes your job. You wake up and train, work, eat, go to the gym and turn the world off to train more, then sleep. Even though I am a bikini girl, I take my prep VERY serious and it really hit home. It was good to know I’m not the only one that takes a prep this way.

I was also pleased to hear Freddies talk on capturing the moment. Now you all know I am NOT shy when it comes to pictures. He said you are going to look like this one point in your life, why not take as many pictures as you can. Also, to document your journey; which I have done several times here. My last prep I went into full force hiding, but I still documented everything for a post you can see here.

With that said, yes I am in prep mode again. I don’t need to hide this time. If I decide to drop, then I drop. This prep is more focused on getting my body back after the bit of “love rebound” I had. Tony and I enjoyed ourselves being a real couple, falling in love, and basically eating our faces off. I don’t regret it at all. I know I’m capable of getting my body back to where I’m comfortable.

I’m not even sure I will step foot on the stage. If I do, then great, but I am really playing this by ear. The goal is to achieve and maintain an 8 week out body while keeping my sanity and carbs at a real level.

The good part is Tony is 100% supportive and he’s also doing a prep-like program right now so we are in it together! I’ve only been at it for a week and so far so good. I really haven’t felt the urge to cheat or have fro-yo with sprinkles. 😉

But anyway, the seminar was great. I even won a raffle and took away an awesome Shredz goodie bag.

We learned a lot and afterwards we were so motivated and pumped that we killed a Saturday gym session. I stuck to a plyometric workout designed for me so I can’t share it here, BUT I can share with you another routine I’ve done in the past for my no equipment cardio days. I promise you will be out of breath.

  • 1 minute run in place
  • 30 seconds jump squats
  • 1 minute jump back and forth over the bosu or step up
  • 30 second around the world squats (squat jump with a quarter turn)
  • 1 minute toe taps to a heel dig on the step/bosu
  • 30 second burpees
  • 30 second high knees or step up and high knee

Take a 1-2 minute break then repeat 4-5 times to get 20-25 minutes! :)

After we left the gym, we showered and decided to go to a movie. We brought our meals too! Sorry to our neighbors because we brought fish. I realized going out and doing things is totally manageable on prep. In the past I was super guilty of shutting myself in my apartment to avoid being around real life, but that’s wrong. We had a blast and stayed on track.

And the highlight for Tony? Well someone tripped over his giant calf muscle in the theater. Yeah, he wanted me to tell you 😉 He has some wheels on him, that’s for sure!

Today I get back to my normal lifts. This go around I am actually taking a rest day and I think it’s what I need. Just one day away from the gym to let my body recover a bit. Taking a different approach is scary, but change is good 🙂

Have a great day. Lift heavy and smile big!

XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

-Minnie
