Subtle Changes
Good Morning. Happy Saturday! First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most beautiful woman in the ENTIRE world! MY MOMMY! Known to you guys as “G-Mama”. I don’t know how I would survive without my mom. She’s my world. Love you mommy! š
This morning I will be starting off with a gym session because I have other things to do later today, but let’s jump into yesterday.
Phoebe and I started with a fluff that could have gone HORRIBLY WRONG. I really wanted to try a new recipe and since I’ve been obsessed with my cookie butter I thought okay maybe gingerbread? Thank goodness I was smart enough to mix the spices before putting them in the blender with everything else. I had one banana to make my fluff with and I thought if I screw this up I can’t have it. Well the “gingerbread” spice mix made me gag. I need to find how to make it correctly. I ended up just having a chocolate fluff with some PB2 powder in it. As G-Mama says “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!”
Afterwards I got dressed in a very confusing outfit (which I received many compliments on later). It was half gym, half out and about.
These are actually dark blue skinny jeans, I know it’s hard to tell from the picture.
And a puppy necklace! A graduation present from my parents when I finished PA school š
So where did I end up going? The hair salon! Don’t worry I didn’t go all Miley Cyrus. I love my long hair and could never cut it. I did however decide to get my first set of highlights. Initially I was going to go a little more drastic, but I really would be bothered by the root line. So my friend Tiffany said it would be better just to do some highlights and blend in naturally with my hair.
I was really scared! I’ve never done anything to my hair before and it’s pretty healthy so I prayed it didn’t fall out. I know I am crazy. And I loved the breast cancer awareness foils!
As I was being shampooed the girl actually said to me “Did you want to go drastic?” “It’s pretty blonde”. OMG NO! WHAT!? Now I may sound like an idiot but I know nothing about hair, this usually happens and then they just fix it with a toner so it blends into your hair better. I didn’t know that. I refused to look in the mirror until it was practically all done.
It turned out beautiful!
Just a little bit of change. Subtle and lightened up a bit. š
Comes out a little more in the sun!
This is my friend Tiffany who did my hair. She is awesome and beautiful of course! Tattoo Barbie š
You can see a little bit of the salon decoration in the background. It is the cutest salon I’ve ever gone to. It’s hers and she did a FABULOUS job of decorating it. So fashion forward and chic. I wouldn’t go anywhere else now! Surroundings really make a difference.
After the hair salon I headed to Wegman’s to pick up veggies and things for the week. I came across this near the cauliflower and just had to purchase. I had no idea what it was, I figured it was a green fiber veggie like broccoli and I like trying new things so I bought some.
Turns out it’s romanesco broccoli, also known as roman cauliflower. It looks like an alien to me! So you know I had to test it out. After googling, it tastes similar to cauliflower, but with a nuttier/earthier flavor. I’ll let you know how it tastes later š
And since I’m being so healthy and clean with my diet, when I came across these in the store I almost cried.
A sugar cookie POPTART!? Okay, sugar cookies are my FAVORITE cookie. Seriously last Christmas I believe I sat there and ate an entire canister of them. One turned into… well… 20. They are small and flat sometimes! š
I walked away from them, but I wasn’t happy about it. My body was though. Instead I picked up this little skinny roll for lunch. I also had some cottage cheese and rice cakes with peanut butter.
After Wegman’s I went to the gym. I planned on a hardcore shoulder session, but my head was pounding (I think from the dye), and also I started with dead lifts and felt a little strain in the left side of my low back. I had to cool it before I did some major damage!
Here was what I did though:
- Smith Dead lifts- 135 lbs, 8-10 reps x 4 sets
- Smith shoulder shrugs, 135 lbs, 10-12 reps x 4 sets
- Lateral raises, 15-20 lb kettles, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Upright rows, 40 lb bar, 10 reps x 3 sets
- Shoulder shrugs, 40 lb weights, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Face rope pulls (cables), 50 lbs, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Low bent over dumbbell rows, 20 lb weights, 10 reps x 3 sets
Then I did 35 minutes on the spin bike, stretched and called it a day.
Of course my hair had fallen by that time
Back at home I made a beautiful tuna steak for dinner that I purchased from Wegmans.
I crusted the sides with a little mix of cracked pepper, sesame seeds, wasabi powder, and ground ginger.
I paired it with a huge salad. I’ve always been a “big salad” person. Yum!
My tuna has to be rare.
Phoebe and I ended our night in the chair watching tv. Well I watched, she fell asleep. She was so tired from playing with Shelby earlier in the day.
Looking tired.
Oooohhhh pet me to sleep!
And she’s out
So that was my little Friday. Time for the gym!
Have a super Saturday š
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,

Love your hair!! It turned out so nicely! Hahaha whenever I mix gym clothes with “normal” clothes, I always get weird comments from family, I push it aside of course, because I don’t care I’m comfy, but it’s weird. Oh my gosh, Phoebe just melts my heart! She’s so adorable š Have a good workout!

Thanks Chelsea! Most of the time I’m even in gym clothes when I’m out doing things because I know I am just going there later anyway. Why change? Waste of time lol

Love the new hair! It look so great – subtle, natural, yet adds a little “pop” š Gorgeous! I got the Balayage technique done a few months back and just the small amount of dimension is great! Who says highlights are only for the summer! š

Thanks so much! I obviously do not follow fashion rules (outfit), so same goes with hair. If it makes me happy I do it!
