Back to the Real World!
Good Mornin’ Skinny Minnies!
As you are reading this, I am back to work! It’s been quite a fun break! I loved spending time with my family and the pups, working on this blog as much as possible (don’t worry I will still update everyday), and working out whenever I wanted. But all good things must come to an end. And let’s face it, my bank account is seriously suffering and I miss shopping at Nordstrom!
I’ve been nervous for a few days, especially because my last job I was working on a labor and delivery floor, and now I’m on a surgical team. Total 180. I made it through PA school because I was dedicated and hit the books hard, so I know if I put in the same effort I’ll succeed again š
So to get ready, I picked up my white coat from G-Mamas

And practiced some surgical knot tying (a surgical technique used to close tissue with tension). It’s been quite some time for me, but luckily the hands don’t forget! Similar to riding a bike…

Yesterday was also day one of clean eating! I have to say I didn’t have trouble with it at all. Maybe in a few days I will feel different about this, but for now the only huge change I had was not having a coke zero (so bad, I know), and cutting out the creamer in my coffee.
Speaking of coffee, THIS is how I started my morning

It was really good and you can make it at home! Click the picture for the recipe!
Then I had my clean breakfast

And Phoebe and I traveled to G-Mama and Pop Pops! I sometimes will open the top of Phoebe’s carrier once we get to the neighborhood. She cried the whole way there because she wanted out and I tried staying strong and saying no. Well she won the battle…

Unfortunately, Shelbs was still not feeling good and was a tad annoyed with Phoebe jumping all over her!

For lunch I ate my first serving of chicken breast in quite some time! While it was cooking Phoebe and I were snapping pics

Chicken was done, and I also had a big cup of greek yogurt with pomegranate seeds in it (they are amazing and pop!)

I was hesitant with my first bite

It was good, but I expected to be like WOW I missed this! I guess I like my tofu š
I headed off to the gym for spin class and some shoulder work and I was actually pretty surprised at all the energy I had! It must have been the boost of protein I had right before.
The gym was crowded, as expected, but manageable. Spin class was a little bit hot because there were so many people in the room, but overall a great class š
My shoulder workout:Ā
- Shoulder abductions (bent elbows) with 17.5 dumbbells, 15 reps x 4 sets
- Upright rows using 25 lb plate, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Front raise using 25 lb plate, 10 reps x 2 sets
- Military press with 17.5 lb dumbbells, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Lateral raises using 8 lb kettle bells, 10 reps x 4 sets
- Front raises using 8 lb kettle bells, 12 reps x 4 sets
- Front Arm circles using 5 lb kettle bells, 20 circles each direction x 2 sets
- Lateral Arm circles using 5 lb kettle bells, 20 circles each direction x 2 sets
At home I made a delicious clean dinner! While I was cooking Phoebe was eating peas I dropped her, she ate about a cup of them

I had a HUGE plate! All clean! The shrimp was cooked in extra virgin olive oil, lime juice, and some red pepper flakes. So delicious

I also had my snack at the end of the day as dessert (I think I’ll end up doing snacks mid-day at work, I know I get hungry when I’m busy)

So of course I am not going to bore you guys with details of every single thing I eat each day. This was to show you what clean eating is about. I counted the calories, just out of curiosity, and it came to about 1,350. I think I might have to up my caloric intake a bit since I am heavy with my workouts!
I’m sure as you are reading this, my Phoebe is hanging out in the bathroom chewing a busy bone. I can’t wait to race home to see her!
XOXO With a Cherry On Top,
-Minnie
