Sorry for not posting yesterday. On Monday, I was in the OR from sun rise to sun set and after the gym I just couldn’t pull it together to do anything productive but clean up a little at home. During the day I was running on some coffee, 3 hours of sleep, and a mouthful or two of quinoa (the worst food to eat fast by the way).
Thank goodness for meal preps from Sunday and all that turkey because I certainly didn’t feel like cooking dinner. I scrounged up some extra veggies and had some more turkey and called it dinner.
On Tuesday, I stayed pretty busy until 2 hours before it was time to leave. That 2:30 feeling hits and oh boy… we all know it too well don’t we? Just as I was clock staring my boss called me and said one of the surgeons needed an assistant ASAP in the OR. I jumped on it. OR time without a resident or a student? My favorite kind! Before I knew it, the clock struck 4:30pm. And yes Mom and Dad you’re Minnie Pooh is in the OR. Guys they still have a hard time believing their little girl operates on people, but I think it’s cute 😉
Normally Tuesdays are my day off the the gym, but I really wanted to workout so I figured I’d go and take another day off instead. I’m going to combine the past two days in my gym talk for the day just to make things easier.
Monday was glutes and I tried a new exercise I made up on the fly. I wanted to work the glutes in a different way, so when I eyed the leg press I thought “hmmm I can make this work”.
This my friends is one of the hardest exercises I’ve ever done. I am STANDING, pressing with one leg on the leg press. For standing support, I am holding onto the seat, but all the strength comes from the hip and glute area. Believe me you will feel this in those glutes and love handles the next day. A MUCH better workout than the seated machine that opens and closes and you can’t make eye contact with anyone… you ladies know what I’m talking about!
Make sure when you switch legs that you go to the OTHER side of the machine or else it won’t work the same way. Your body should always be facing the seat.
Mama worked hard at the hospital and then at the gym and this one is yawning…
Tuesday was biceps. The gym has been INSANELY busy so the cables are always taken by men that hog up the space. I get annoyed a lot, but I won’t wait around for anyone. Number 1 I don’t have time, Number 2 people want to work in with you… that’s a negative. I tried doing that before and I like my own pace. So I grab dumb bells, resistance bands, plates, and make it work. Whatever gets the workout in!
If cables are taken try doing bicep curls different ways
- side bicep curls
- wide barbell curls
- resistance band curls (step on the band to make it harder)
- Plate curls
- Dumbbell flex curls (instead of using cables- dumbbells up like you are flexing, flex in and out).
This top is from forever 21! I sometimes like to go in there for crop tops. They make good floaty workout tanks.
Look at all my space at the gym! It lasted about 10 seconds…
At home Phoebe has been super excited. She just loves when Mommy is home!
This is fancy, delicious smelling coffee my friend Billy gave me! Thanks Billy 🙂
And then we tried to fold a fitted sheet since I watched how to do it at work with a co-worker yesterday. I only use fitted sheets since it’s easier, and my folding is always a disaster because of the round corners…. I laughed at work because I said “the second I put it on the floor Phoebe will hop on it and think it’s for her”.
I know my dog!
I obviously do not iron my sheets, sorry
This looks like a good spot.
My little world 🙂
Have a great Wednesday.
