Homemade Peanut Butter
I’m not sure if this exactly qualifies as a recipe because you cannot possibly screw this up! There are only two ingredients! Peanuts and a teeny bit of salt!
For the past 5 weeks every single night I’ve had an apple with peanut butter. You think by now I would be so sick of it. But I CRAVE it like crazy. Usually when I’m on the stairmaster at the gym I’m thinking, man I want that apple and peanut butter!
I’m pretty picky about the peanut butter too. It has to be the natural NO preservatives peanut butter made of only dry roasted peanuts and salt. If there is oil separation in the jar, then you know it’s the natural kind. If it’s all swirled together and already creamy, stay away!
I wanted to try making my own instead of relying on the jar š I was surprised that it is nothing like making almond butter- that takes forever to make creamy. This comes together within 2-3 minutes.
For this recipe you will need:
-1 cup of dry roasted peanuts (unsalted)
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
That’s it! And a food processor š
Pour your peanuts into the food processor along with the salt
Turn it on and within 5 seconds you have this
In 2 minutes you have a dough
And in 3 minutes you have creamy peanut butter!
I like to add another handful of peanuts in and give it one little pulse for a few chunks š
It really doesn’t get more simple than this!
I dipped an apple in it and Phoebe wanted some!
Better than the jar!
Happy eating…

Hi darl! i love your recipe, i was wondering how to calculate the calories in say a tablespoon of just pure peanut butter with no added salt? x
Katie
so just look on the side panel of the peanuts! Or you can google calorie counters online. Spark people has a good one š
It’s around 8 grams of fat and 100 calories for a tablespoon if that helps!
Latisha
is peanut butter or almond butter better for you?
Latisha
also…how is the homemade almond butter less calories than this homemade pb?
Katie
almonds are more nutritious!
