Jiffy Pop Over Tequila On the Rocks

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. You will be happy to know I am feeling much better from my leg soreness, and was able to function and get to the gym today. It was actually short for me today, but it’s okay to ease up every now and then.
One topic I haven’t brought up in any of my posts or pages is alcohol. And since its the weekend. I feel it’s relevant. This is not a rant by any means, just my opinion on it!
Do I drink? No I don’t. And for several reasons. Number one, I don’t like the way it makes me feel. I feel unnatural, not in control, and gross. Especially if you decide to have more than a few, the way you feel the next morning is not worth it to me. Bloated, nauseated, headache, and no motivation to do anything! Second, I don’t like the way people act when they drink. Okay, one or two is fine if you want to have drinks with friends. But when people get loud, obnoxious, and can’t stand up on their own, I find it disturbing. Third, the calories aren’t worth it to me. Alcohol is LOADED with heavy empty calories that expand your waistline. I don’t know about you but I’d rather eat my calories than drink them! So yeah pass me that second helping instead 😉
I was never much on alcohol. I never had crazy college days. I just don’t get the hype. At most I’d have a glass of wine or so if I went out to dinner with someone. I’ve tried using it for socialization purposes (I have problems with this) and I’ve figured out its just not me! So I refuse to change myself to fit in with the crowd! I’ll stay a sober sister 🙂
If you want to drink, that’s fine. I’m not here to say what’s right or wrong. Just be smart. Don’t over do it, be careful and DEFINITELY don’t drink and drive!
Okay, now that I got that out of the way we can move onto today’s events…
Phoebe is absolutely in love with looking out the window now. I’m not sure what she is looking at, there’s no one outside, just the pool that’s closed for the winter. But it keeps her entertained, so I won’t complain.
Phoebe and I then shared some jiffy pop on the couch!
My recipe today is a great little appetizer dish! Also good as a game day snack 🙂
Loaded TexMex Mushroom. Very easy and healthy! This huge serving has 240 calories and 2.8 grams of fat.
I went to the gym today and kept it pretty simple. I started with 15 minutes of the stair master (I really feel like this is the most effective cardio for me), but choose what you like!
I then did a little back and ab work. Not too much because I was feeling a little tight and I also didn’t want to aggravate my sciatica.
- Rear flys using the machine. 30lbs. 15 reps x 4 sets
- Bent over double rows (holding like hammer curls). 8 lb dumbbells each hand, 20 reps x 2 sets
- Seated rows. 40lbs. 12 reps x 3 sets
- Superman (lay on your stomach on the mat, lift legs and arms up like you are flying like superman, neck neutral and eye gaze towards floor) Hold up for 10 seconds, then do 8 pulses up. 4 sets! Take a break after set 2!
I used this ab machine today and really felt it! 40 lbs, 15 reps x 2 sets, and then 50lbs, 10 reps x 2 sets
Then did some side twists standing. 20 reps x 2 sets. Holding 8lb dumbbells.
And cooled down with some stretching!
I am currently working on some great exercise videos I plan on uploading to Youtube. Completely free at home workouts! The first one I am going to feature is a cardio blast type workout. I’ll let you know as soon as it is up and running!
