Skinny Minnie Ball of Energy
So I wasn’t sure how yesterday was going to go. When my alarm goes off at 430, I shuffle to my coffee pot with my head down, grab Phoebe, and start preparing her food for the day. Then shuffle with coffee in hand over to the computer where I edit my blogs for the day to post. Well yesterday I slipped and spilled my huge cup of coffee all over my Mac. All my blog notes were ruined (I often keep ideas and calorie counts on little stickies) and I was not happy! My keyboard was the only thing that really got it, but it still functions. Luckily I have the big monitor sitting up and it didn’t get on that! Phew Mac Daddy is alive!
Yesterday did turn into a good day though! First of all, I was able to have lunch! Can you please get up and dance for me? That’s how exciting it was!
I inhaled it quickly, but hey it’s still food. It’s amazing what food does for the body. My day went faster, I was more productive, and when I left I was in the mood to workout! No pounding headache and running to the fridge for me. I felt like a little ball of energy and headed to the gym for a good sweat!
The gym was super crowded though. I’m not used to it being this way! I know new years resolutions are in full swing and I fully support people wanting to make a change!
I hit the arc trainer for 30 minutes since the stairmasters were all tied up, and then did some chest work! I make these fast during the week and plow through without a lot of breaks to be home at a reasonable hour for Phoebe and dinner!
- Pec Squeeze (open and closing) with 17.5 lb dumbbells, 15 reps x 5 sets
- Side bends with 30 lb kettle bell, 20 reps x 2 sets each side
- Torso twists with 30 lb kettle bell, 30 reps x 2 sets
- Pushups on toes with 10 lb weights (instead of hands on the floor, grasp the weights on the floor and push up and down, a little more of a challenge!) 10 reps x 3 sets
- Standing chest presses with a 25 lb plate, 12 reps x 3 sets
- Chest Presses with 25 lb plate lying on stability ball (balance works the core), 12 reps x 4 sets
- Low decline chest presses with 10 lb dumbbells on stability ball (sit on ball, do a chest press but slightly at a decline), 12 reps x 3 sets
- Fly’s with 10 lb kettle balls, 12 reps x 2 sets each arm (I tried single arms)
At home I was excited that I had a package! It’s been a while since I’ve had one because I really was pinching pennies recently. Before I would have packages every couple of days! Online shopping is detrimental to my bank account.
This time it was my protein powder I had the small pack of the other day! As natural as I could find and the best tasting one I bought!
I’ll be having a glass before work for sure! Hopefully I don’t spill it all over the computer 😉
It’s been drizzling, gloomy, and cold here for the past couple days. I wanted something warm and comforting for dinner! Enter my Clean Corn Chowder!

Then I tuned in to American Idol! Did you guys watch? I watch all reality tv, so this is a given for me. I was extremely disappointed though, and really bored! They should have offered JLO anything she wanted, I loved her and she totally made the last few seasons! G-Mama and I used to have bets on what color she’d come out wearing on live shows. Dorks, I know 🙂 Anyway, I didn’t like any of the new judges. Nothing against Miss Minaj, but I don’t think she has paid her dues yet to be a judge on that kind of show. Keith was very blah, and Mariah wasn’t diva enough for me! I expected way more! The “fights” seemed a tad staged too… but maybe it’ll get better? Somewhere Simon Cowell is laughing!

Well, I am halfway through the work week! We will see how work goes, but it’s supposed to be shoulder day (you guys know this is my favorite!).—Morning edit: it’s supposed to snow this afternoon so I might do a little workout at home and then save it for Friday night, not sure yet. Hoping for another lunch today! 🙂
