Staying Active and On Target this Season

Hello gang!

As summer comes to a close and fall approaches, the leaves start to fall off the trees and a slight breeze starts to come in here in good old Maryland. Fall is my absolute favorite season by the way 🙂

You guys know I’m a gym rat, but sometimes it’s good to just go outside and soak up the sun on such a beautiful day! I like the outdoors when fall turns the corner because the weather is perfect. You can still pull off a tank and shorts too when outside for smaller periods of time.

Thanks to my friends over at Target®, I have been able to wear two pieces from their C9 collection that are so breathable for this weather.

My favorite thing to do in this weather? Walk my girl!

At this point in my competition prep, every bit of cardio counts! Once the heat goes away (let’s face it Phoebs has A LOT of fur) Phoebe and I go on longer walks in the neighborhood. I usually keep my gym clothes on and we hit the pavement!

If you have a larger dog, a jog would be PERFECT for you and your furry buddy to sneak in that extra cardio, but Phoebe is so small it won’t work. In fact, the other night we tried it. I said “let’s run!” we ran maybe 15 feet down the hill and she quit. Then we tried up the hill and she lasted 5 feet. Oh well, we tried! Her little legs tire out quickly, and her hair weighs more than her actual body!

As you see I’m dragging her a bit 😉

Do you guys take your pets out for jogs or walks? If so, how does it go?

Other ideas to get outside and remain active when the weather starts to change:

  • Bootcamps with friends. I recently did one in California and it was so fun. Lunges, squats, burpees, pushups, sprints. You pretty much need your body, some sun, and that’s it! A cool breeze would be perfect for this kind of workout.
  • Hikes. If your fortunate enough to live in an area with valleys or mountains, this could be super fun!
  • Outdoor stretching, yoga, pilates. My apartment building has a beautiful outdoor area with grills and a lawn. This area would be perfect for just chilling out after a workout in my home gym!

For now, Phoebe and I will stick to the walks while I’m on competition prep. Plus I get to spend quality time with my girl after a long day!
