2016 Changes

Hi friends!

I missed you guys and I hope you’ve missed me. We are now in 2016… hard to believe. When I was a kid I remember thinking by the time I’m 30 (now) I’ll be married with little ones running around in a house, stable job, and have it all together. Then, 30 seemed ancient. Now 30 feels young and I really don’t have that picture that I once painted.

However, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have a stable job, yes; house is being built (roof now… woot woot!), but no little kiddos running around, just a little ball of fluff. I’m not married, but that is definitely in the future for Tony and I, so that picture is just a little bit down the road 😉

But anyway, my biggest goal for 2016 is to get my blog back to the way it was last year, even 2 years ago. Time has been precious lately, but I always loved coming here, sharing my world, and sharing my recipes. Last night I was reminded of that world when my friends over at Dymatize shared my cinnamon sugar donut recipe on their instagram page.

I forgot how much I loved those!

I’m hoping everything just starts to sort itself out and I find the old me that once existed. And speaking of the old me, Tony and I agreed to clean up our diets after the new year. I succumbed to holiday treats and honestly have no regrets. I can’t remember ever really enjoying the season without freaking out a tad about what I ate. I ate it and I loved every second of it 😉

So here we are in 2016, back on track with healthy eating, and regular gym sessions (cardio and lifts).  So far it’s been fine, because many of our friends are doing the same since they are prepping for shows. Tony and I both played around with the idea… once you’re a competitor you always will entertain your brain with the possibility of doing a show, but really it would be unrealistic for me to do that again. I told myself I was hanging up my heels, and I plan on keeping that mindset. I’d rather that $150 spray tan, $300 entry fee, $250 NPC card, and over $400 bikini go to a nice piece of furniture in our new house.

I’m just going to continue to do what I’ve been doing, while trying to get a little bit of my “pump” back. I have ZERO interest in being super shredded again since I’m not competing. It’s too exhausting. I’d just like a nice middle ground. Until this morning, I hadn’t weighed myself in MONTHS. I didn’t care to know the number, but today I really wanted to know where I stood. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, and gave me an idea of where I wanted to be since I’ve put on a little more muscle this year.

I will say meal prep is your best friend if you are trying to stay on track. You guys know me… meal prep queen. However for a while there Tony and I would just grab whatever was around. We would make our protein as normal, but nothing else was really prepared. Having everything done and in the fridge has made a huge difference.

If you’re a beginner and lost on how to exactly meal prep, I have a post on how I started doing it!

Things are a little different now since I do 6 small meals… but the idea is the same 🙂

I hope you have a great Wednesday. I’ll be back soon 🙂
